Teledentistry is a secure and quick way to get a dentist’s consultation without leaving your home. It could also help you avoid a visit to the emergency room. Use HDS Virtual Visits when you:
- are having a dental emergency and do not have a dentist,
- need access to a dentist after hours, or
- need to consult a dentist without leaving home, or while traveling.
Teledentistry is already included in your existing dental coverage once per dentist, per dental office, per 12-month period and does not count toward your regular preventive oral health exams.*

Connect with a TeleDentistry.com dentist and begin your consultation
After the Consultation
TeleDentistry.com dentists provide initial consultation services* and can write prescriptions** when appropriate. The TeleDentistry.com dentist will email consultation notes to your Hawaii Dental Service network dentist for further treatment. If you do not have a Hawaii Dental Service dentist, TeleDentistry.com will refer you to an in-network dentist with your authorization.
Teledentistry is meant to supplement your current dental plan and should be used after business hours, on holidays and weekends, or when experiencing a dental emergency and your regular dentist is not available.

*TeleDentistry.com services are only available to current Hawaii Dental Service members. A TeleDentistry.com consultation counts as a problem-focused exam (D0140) under your dental plan. This service is currently not available to Medicaid and Medicare beneficiaries.
