ER Diversion Saves Millions For Health Insurers

Teledentistry.com’s founder had the honor of presenting our company’s data to the American Dental Association and American College of Emergency Physicians recently. Dr. Vilas Sastry showcased our company’s efforts in how we effectively divert dental emergencies at the carrier level to save millions for insurers.

Our Teledentistry.com dentists are trained to assess a patient for a variety of conditions including visible dental decay, poor oral hygiene and other visually apparent dental disorders

By prescribing antibiotics and pain killers (non-controlled substances only) we help patients avoid a visit to the emergency room. Of course, if a patient’s dental  condition warrants the use of the ER, then the consulting dentist will recommend accordingly. The patient is always encouraged to visit their local dentist for definitive care. Our virtuous feedback system communicates with the patient on a regular basis reminding them to visit their dentist for further care appointments. By doing this Teledentistry.com hopes to reduce the chances that a patient will get exposed to an opioid pain killer and potentially become addicted due to the underlying disease not being treated.

Our survey system has gathered data across thousands of patients and it is clear they prefer to have their dental issues resolved in the dental office rather than going to the emergency room.
