Early stages of tooth decay can sometimes be reversed with fluoride treatments and improved oral hygiene. Once decay has penetrated deeper into the dentin or pulp, more invasive treatments are required.

Teledentistry can play a role in educating patients about tooth decay prevention, providing guidance on oral hygiene practices, and offering remote consultations for monitoring symptoms. However, in-person dental visits are usually necessary for diagnosing and treating tooth decay effectively.
